Vocational Learning Resources August Newsletter

Welcome to the August issue of our Vocational Learning Resources newsletter. We hope you’ve had a relaxing summer break and that you are looking forward to starting the new term. With the current issues surrounding exam results and the sudden regrading of BTec results, this has certainly been a challenging month for FE institutions in supporting their learners and helping prepare them for their next steps.

Final reminder about Vocational Learning Resources

The free access period to our Vocational Learning Resources ended last month and you now need a subscription to access our Construction training, Digital and IT training, Education and Childcare training and Health and Social Care training.

Our Hairdressing training will continue to be a free service that anyone can use.

If you’d like to continue accessing these resources, get in touch with Jisc about getting a subscription. You can find further information on our catalogue page here.

Unit list for Hairdressing

We’ve recently updated our support site to include a unit list for our Hairdressing Service. This includes information on how the service links to the most popular qualifications such as NVQ, SVQ and VRQ qualifications, a list of all resources included in the service and learning outcomes for each resource.

More information can be found on our Curriculum Support page on our support site.

Upcoming webinar clinics

A reminder that our e-books for FE service has a webinar clinic coming up on 26 August from 2pm – 3pm.

This webinar will discuss JUSP: what it is, why we work with COUNTER compliant data, how it can be used, and where JUSP fits in. You can find out more about JUSP at https://jusp.jisc.ac.uk/ and you can access the clinic at https://www.jisc.ac.uk/training/e-books-for-fe-online-clinic

Update: in our latest e-books for FE newsletter, it was mentioned that we would also be doing an overview of our Vocational Learning resources, our new pricing model and answering any questions you may have about this service. Please note that this has been postponed and we will provide details on this webinar and how to attend shortly.

Win a £30 National Book Token

The monthly National Book Token giveaway is back in time for the new term!

Each month we will ask a question relating to our digital resources, whether e-books or Vocational Learning Resources, and invite you to respond via Twitter and the winner will receive a £30 National Book Token.

Our question to August is:
“How are you planning to embed our digital resources into your remote learning strategy in the new term?”

Your response will provide ideas and inspiration for other institutions, as well as showcasing your own initiatives.

Please respond on Twitter, including @ebooksforfe and @fe_jisc in your tweets so we can see them. Feel free to thread multiple tweets together, if your response requires it.

Deadline is 31 August and the winner will be announced in the September newsletter. Good luck!
