e-books for FE June 2021 newsletter

Welcome to the June 2021 issue of our e-books for FE newsletter. We hope you’ve been enjoying the fine weather and the bank holiday, with the summer break in sight.

E-book usage in May bounced back from the holiday month of April, with a massive 120% increase over May 2020. The number of user sessions for the academic year so far now stands at 1,123,593.

Updated ProQuest training

ProQuest are currently in the process of updating all their training materials and online guides, so we can expect new video guides to LibCentral and e-book functionality on Ebook Central by the start of September. The new guides will include short e-learning modules, and not just the usual YouTube videos and PDFs. ProQuest will be offering monthly training sessions from September onwards, and these will be advertised to the e-books for FE mailing list, on the blog, and on Twitter (@ebooksforFE).

Remember you can always book a training session for library staff or curriculum staff with the FE and Skills team, via your Account Manager, in addition to the ProQuest sessions.

Purchasing round 2021

The lists of new titles and renewals have been sent to ProQuest and Pearson, along with the draft licence agreements. All going well, we will be able to confirm the new collection list later in June.  With the renewals confirmed, we will also distribute a list of the titles expiring on 31 August this year. For reference, the full list of current titles (with subscription end dates) is available at https://support.ebooksforfe.jisc.ac.uk/index.php/guides/subject-areas-guide/
