e-books for FE October 2023 newsletter

Welcome to the October 2023 issue of our e-books for FE newsletter. With the new term we have seen a bounce in e-book usage compared to September 2022: an increase of 18%.

To aid discovery and increase usage, a reminder that you should now have bibliographic records for the new e-book titles loaded into your library management system.

Secure access deadline: IMPORTANT

As communicated via this list in October 2022, and directly to colleges by Relationship Managers, there is now a mandate which requires colleges to access e-books for FE in a secure manner to ensure data privacy and cyber security, and to improve student experience. That October 2022 notice is still available here:

https://feandskillscontent.jiscinvolve.org/wp/2022/10/04/improving-security-and-student-experience-with-e-books-for-fe/

This deadline has been extended to 31 October (this month). If you are not using a UK Federation-approved access method by that date, with your Shibboleth or OpenAthens details passed on to ProQuest, you will lose access to e-books for FE. Please contact your Relationship Manager if you have any questions about this.
