Welcome to the June issue of our e-books for FE newsletter. We had the highest May usage ever, with an increase of 8% over May 2021, and this put the number of user sessions for England alone at over one million for the academic year so far, with two months left to go. A huge thank-you to all colleges for promoting the collection and supporting Jisc resources.
Purchasing round 2022
The list of new titles being purchased this year has been confirmed, along with the titles being renewed beyond their initial subscription, which in turn confirms which titles are due to fall out of the collection on 31 August this year. The new Excel spreadsheet is available via this link:
Rows 2 to 374 – titles already in the collection with subscription time left to run.
Rows 376 to 400 – titles which were due to expire on 31 August this year which are being renewed for an extra 1 year or 3 years (expiry date in column L). The decision to renew is based primarily on usage: these titles are still extremely popular.
Rows 402 to 453 – new titles purchased this year.
Rows 2 to 131 in the Expired titles tab are the titles which will become unavailable after 31 August.
The spreadsheet will be updated when we receive the Ebook Central Document IDs for the new titles from ProQuest, which will define the URL links.
e-book platform licence 2022-2025
In the coming days there will be a new e-book licence for 2022-2025, that colleges will be required to sign in order to continue accessing Jisc e-books for FE on the ProQuest platform: the current 2019-2022 licence is due to end on 31 August.
The new licence will be available on the Licence Subscription Manager (LSM), and for this reason it is vital that your college’s access and authentication details are up to date in the LSM, i.e. Shibboleth / OpenAthens information, IP range information, staff contact information. If your college has undergone a merger since the last licence was signed in 2019, or has changed its authentication method, please ensure your LSM account reflects your current identity and set-up.
The new licence will be widely advertised via the e-books for FE JiscMail list and via the Account Manager network. If you have any questions about the process, please email content.feandskills@jisc.ac.uk or consult with your Account Manager.
