e-books for FE October newsletter

Welcome to the October issue of our e-books for FE newsletter. The new academic year is well underway – and one like no other before it – so here at Jisc we are thinking of library and learning services staff and the challenges you are facing. Working closely with your Account Managers, the FE & Skills team are ready to provide support, advice, and resources.

Colleges Week – Monday 19 to Friday 23 October

Colleges Week falls on 19-23 October this year, with the following five themes:

  • Monday 19 – At the centre of the economic rebuild
  • Tuesday 20 – At the centre of growing and supporting individual sectors
  • Wednesday 21 – At the centre of innovation and designing the future
  • Thursday 22 – At the centre of supporting people and supporting communities
  • Friday 23 – At the centre of the COVID-19 response

For further information on how to become involved, plus a range of helpful resources and activity plans, visit the Love Our Colleges web site: https://loveourcolleges.co.uk/colleges-week

Win a £30 National Book Token

Each month we will ask a question relating to our digital resources, whether e-books or Virtual Learning Resources, and invite you to respond via Twitter. The winner, chosen at random, will receive a £30 National Book Token.

The question for October is:

“How are you supporting peer-to-peer learning in relation to our e-resources?”

You must include @ebooksforfe and @fe_jisc in your Tweets so that we see them. Feel free to thread multiple Tweets together, if your response requires it.

Deadline: 31 October.

The winner will be announced in the October newsletter. Good luck!

Webinar clinics

There will be no webinar in October, due to half term holidays. The next webinar will be on Wednesday 25 November from 2-3 pm, in which we will look at the updated e-books for FE support site, and, with members’ feedback, take stock of the term as a whole.

The recording and transcript of the 30 September webinar (‘Digital Skills’) will be available soon at https://www.jisc.ac.uk/training/e-books-for-fe-online-clinic
