Study skills workshops: how can we add value to a student’s education?
Presented by Hayley Hallworth (College Librarian, Sixth Form College, Colchester)
This session will explore the role of library and learning resources staff in an academic setting and how we can add value to a student’s learning and experience. We’ll explore a case study from the Sixth Form College, Colchester and how their Library has worked alongside the English Department to teach students how to use a Library, searching skills online and the use of online services instead of Google.

SharePoint as library portal (1)
In this session, Marc Challans (Activate Learning), Karen Hurley (Trafford College Group) and Mishka Fielding (Loreto College) will do a show and tell of their library SharePoint sites. If you are in the early stages of developing SharePoint as a library portal, this is an opportunity to gather ideas for your site designs. We will also gather questions for the follow-up meeting on 29 March (1-2 pm) which will focus on the practical how-to side of SharePoint design and configuration.

SharePoint as library portal – how-to Q & A (2)
In this follow-up to the 22 March meeting, Marc Challans (Activate Learning) will go over how to get started on building up a SharePoint site, focusing on the role of links and pages and looking at the different ways that information can be shown. The objective of this session if for attendees to have a better knowledge of the technical considerations of building a SharePoint site, and there will also be opportunities for those in the process of building a site to troubleshoot issues with the group.
